Photography Question

New PhotoShop CS

Has anyone had a chance to try the new PS CS? I'm really thinking about getting it -- I'll have to buy the full version because I'm using PS Elements 2 right now. CS is only $50 or so more than PS 7.

What I really want to know is if it's worth it to skip PS 7 for CS, or are they just two different options?

ANyone? I'm starting to see the need for something more powerful than Elements, and I'd like to get CS if you think it's a better choice. IF not, I'll probably wait on PS 7 to come down in price again, as it is sure to do since CS will be the "new" kid on the block at Adobe.

Am I thinking in the right direction?

HELP!

I'd go for it, but I am told I'd be forced to buy Windows XP. Of course, I'll have to do it when I need a new computer, anyway. Read more about CS in the November Shutterbug.

Really. I already have XP - just upgraded all our PCs a couple of months ago. I agree it's probably smart to wait until you get your new computer. We actually put XP on my old PC before I got my laptop because I was planning to trade out and use my laptop exclusively, but now I'm thinking I really need to seperate certain jobs to keep on the PC. Really need to do the PS work on the PC because of the monitor, but I tend to just force my laptop to do it all.

It's a pain trying to keep everyone in this house up to speed! We have two teens who also need new gear.

MEant to say, "...put XP on my old PC before ... because I was planning to use both the PC & the laptop...changed my mind and now I think I really need both afterall..."

I would skip 7 and go to CS because there are LOTS of new features in CS aimed specifically at digital photographers. For example, you now constantly have histograms up, and there is a really handy shadow-highlight adjustment tool that actually works. ;-) There are a couple of sites that have reviewed it, like photoshopcafe.com. Overall, the CS upgrade will help out photographers alot, and should be worth it.
