Photography Question

Take Night Photos without a Flash

I use and Olympus Camedia2040Zoom. Love the camera, which I have had for 18 months. Have basically been experimenting taking various types of photos. Recently took about 20 photos of the moon rising over the ocean. Used SQ1 setting, no flash. I am fairly pleased with my first efforts but would love to know proper settings for the camera in order to do these types of photos. My photo program is Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0.With these specific photos, after I enhance them by using either Auto Levels or Auto Contrast, the photos look fairly good however, there are lines which run through the photo, similar to if you had shot a photo through a window screen or more descriptive yet, a chain link fence and the links are showing. They are not overly dark but are noticeable. I was able to remove most by using the clone tool but would really like some instruction here. I will upload a photo but not sure if the lines will show or not.

I haven't the faintest idea why this question comes up twice. I had tried to upload a sample photo for my question but instead got this second copy of this question
