Macro lens; fish-eye lenses What is the difference between a macro lens and other lenses? Why are fish-eye lenses very expensive and how can I get a cheap one?

A macro lens enables the photographer to get especially close to a subject. The close-up pictures you see of flowers, frogs, bugs, etc. are often shot with a macro lens. Macro lens come in different ratios; a 1:1 macro means that the subject is as big on the negative or slide as it is in real life. That's big! Some cameras also offer a macro mode which performs the same function - allowing the user to get real close to the subject. I don't know why fish-eye lenses are costly but I can only guess that it is because they require an unusual, difficult-to-grind piece of glass (or many such pieces). Anybody know? This is the kind of lens I can imagine more than a few people buying and then never using. I would keep an eye out at eBay or used camera shops.
