How Do I Start My Own Business?

I chatted briefly with a photographer about finding a better place to get my film developed at (I use Portra 160VC)and I have wanted to start taking Senior pictures, ect., (mainly outside photography) and I was told that in order to use a professional film developing company, I would have to belong to the PPA or PPO and be established as a buisness first and even then, it would cost roughly $30-35 a roll for 36 pictures because most places that develop film for the "profressional photographers" will not do it for the general public. So how do I go about getting registerd as a buisness in photography or is all this a bunch of "you-know-what"?
Also, what is the difference between medium format and 35mm film? Can a 35mm camera use a medium format film, I am pre-guessing the answer to this is no, but you never know for sure till you ask! Is the medium format film the type that makes the 4x5 proofs that alot of professionals offer? Because I have seen on alot of sites that develop film, only offer 4x6, a couple had 3.5x5.

First of all it is not necessary to belong to any organization to use a pro lab. Pro labs do usually require that you do a certain amount of business with them each year to keep your account active. At my lab a roll of 135-36 costs $26 to develop and proof (4x6 proofs).

Medium format film is larger that 35mm and consequently won't fit into a 35mm camera. The aspect ratio of medium format varies from camera to camera. Some cameras produce square negative (6cmx6cm) and the typical proof sizes are 5x5. Some cameras produce 6x7(cm's) negs and the proofs are typically 4x5's. You can have either of those printed to whatever you want. They will just crop them.
