Photographing jet fighters

I have been considering buying a 35mm slr camera for photographing fighter jets, and I was wandering what is a good automatic camera that has a mirror lockup for it. I am on a limited buget of at or under $300. I have been considering the canon eos rebel 2000.

Assuming you're taking pictures of jets in flight, why do you want mirror lockup? Mirror lockup is generally used for photographs needing long exposures. After the picture is composed, you lock up the mirror, then take the shot. This way, the vibration from the mirror 'bounce' doesn't effect the final picture.
Also, when the mirror is locked up, you can't see through the viewfinder. That would make it pretty hard to take a picture of a moving object.

That's what I had heard but I wasn't sure about.
