Photography Question

Protecting Your Eyes Shooting Sunsets

I love shooting sunsets, but I worry about causing damage to my eyes when composing the shot in the viewfinder.

Is there a photographer's trick to getting a great sunset pic while keeping your eyes safe from harm?

Thanks!
Renee

In the april Photographic magazine there is an article talking about this. They say you can make a sun-viewing eye piece filter by cutting the shape from a fully exposed & developed black and white film. place it in your viewfinder and you are ready to go. Good luck.

  Thanks, Lisa!

I'm wondering if there might be any other alternatives to using black and white film. I only shoot digital right now and in our small town, there is no local camera shop that does it's own film developing and printing.

Do you think perhaps the inside material of a floppy disk would work as well? I'm going to do some more research on this, and will share any info I come across in this same thread.

I appreciate your quick response...and hopefully, this info will be helpful to others who may be unaware of potential risks.

Thanks again,
Renee
