Wildlife with a Digital Camera??? Hi - I visit Africa at least 3 times a year and was wondering how you felt about wildlife photgraphy with a digital camera?? I have been looking at the new Canon Digital SLR's, and was wondering how they would compare with the traditional film cameras and the zooming-in effects? I appreciate any help/advice you could give Thanks Andrew

A pain for some people and maybe a bonus for you is the appr 1.4-times multiplication factor you get with the typical digital SLR. This means that your 200-mm lens, for example, acts as a 280. You get a bonus in magnification for your wildlife shots. With any tele, however, use fast film and get used to using a tripod. The new Canon D-1x has no multiplication factor, as the CMOS (light-gathering digital device) is the same size as a 35-mm frame. For what it costs, however, you might go to Africa three times.
