Filters Will a filter help to reduce shine on varnished woodwork and if so what type?

One of the secrets of great photos, including taking the shine off of woodwork, is a polarizing filter. It is the secret to those deep, satisfying, saturated colors; seeing through the annoying glare on glass and water and giving more control over incidental light reflections that flatten the photos. There are two types; circular for autofocus and linear for non-autofocus.
