There are several things I like in the specs. I have NOT used this camera. You have a spot meter, which helps you to select a portion of the frame from which to take your light reading.
It takes commonly available 49-mm filters (shouldn't need filters), but much more importantly, any of several commonly found lens shades. Try a screw-on shade for the Olympus 28mm f3.5 lens. That shade should be wide enough to be effective for the wide end of your zoom. Many digitals won't take a shade at all.
It uses commonly available AA batteries. Try to find someone who has one and ask about the battery life.
Finally, see if you can save images in the TIF mode. In TIF mode, you get no loss of quality due to compression. Plan to buy some big capacity memory cards, maybe 128's, if you'll be shooting full resolution images to print.
Try to check it out in the store. You want very little to no lag between the time you press the shutter button and when the camera actually takes the picture.

HI, I just bought this camera, I've had for about two weeks. One thing I will definately need is the external battery pack EBP 100 which costs about $300 The regular AA rechargeable batteries last for about 30 min of shooting. I have a wedding to do and I will have to get that.... I have made very nice 8x10's from both superfine and fine settings both record in jpeg modes at largest image size available. You can record RAW pictures with no compression, but the images can only be read with the software included.

Good luck on your purchase
Thais

Hi Thais W,
yes, this camera is really great, except for the battery. Well for now I have two extra sets I keep charge. I will be posting some pictures I recently shot from it. Well I am still going through some of the settings.
