TTL = Through The Lens flash metering. The camera has a light sensor/meter that measures the light striking the film while the shutter is open and sends a signal to the flash to shut down the its output when sufficient exposure is attained.

Non-TTL flash are either fully manual, or have automatic exposure controled by a light sensor mounted on the flash itself.

35mm is the width of the film, outside edge to outside edge. The actual image size between the sprocket holes is 24mm tall x 36mm wide.

White balance adjusts the digital sensors so that white is white with different light sources (sunlight v. tungsten v. fluorescent v. halogen v. mercury vapor v. ...)

TTL isn't limited to only flash control. Camera bodies that can control a dedicated flash (one made specifically for that camera) using TTL metering also use the same metering system for setting exposure without flash, allowing you to do it manually, or doing it automatically for you.
