Time Elapsed
I am rather new to the world of Photography. I suppose it is the shutter that makes noise when you shoot a picture. Well about 10 mins ago I tried a 30 second (30") time elapse of Downtown. I stood by the camera and I did not hear the shutter(?) close when it was through exposing. Did my pic not fully expose or is the shutter near stealth at the longer exposures. Your help would be appreciated.

It depends on the specific camera model. In general, the mirror flipping up is much louder than the shutter opening and closing.
