The film: Kodak IR 135 is one example.

The lenses: the focus for IR film is different than for normal film as the infrared light has longer wavelengths than visible light and will focus slightly behind the film plane. You must compensate for this. Your lens may have a mark for IR compensation. You will have to focus and then adjust the focus ring a little closer than normal.

The filter: you should use a deep red filter such as an R1 to keep the visible light out of the camera.

Processing: infrared film is generally developed using the E4 process whereas most film nowadays uses the newer E6 process. Check with your lab to make sure they can do the job for you. If not, ask someone at your local hospital if they send their film out and if so, where (they use IR film in medical photography).

Camera: use the one you like or possibly the one with the IR focus reference mark.
Good luck.
