photograghs in the 1800's We are reading Thomas Edison in school. There was a family portrate and the kids asked why didn't they smile back then. I was hoping you could answer that question for me so that I could tell the kids. Thank you, Stacey

Stacey. in those days, photography was a new, miraculous thing. Having a picture made was a momumental moment in one's life. It was a serious time. Also people had to be very still with the technology of the time. This would be an interesting report for some of your students to do.
