what lense to purchase

Hi all
I have Canon EOS 66 I wanted to purchase additional lense 100 to 300 range. I am bit confused whether to purchase normal lenses or telephoto lenses. Pl suggests me regarding this and tell me the economical lenses in this regard which will suit my camara. And what are the difference between normal lense and telephoto lenses.

I would recommend the Canon EOS 100-300 4.5 to 5.6 zoom lens. If you wish to have a "normal" lens, the Canon EOS 50mm 1.8 lens costs $100 new or less than that used. I would also recommend getting at least one 28mm - 85mm zoom lens or a 28mm - 105mm zoom lens, if you did not get one with your camera.
Lens can fall into two or three types. Fixed focal length lens have one focal length. The advantage is a sharper image and the ability to take shoots in places that have low light. If you wish to change the size of the person or thing in the viewfinder, you have to move forward or back to adjust the distance between you and your subject. Zoom lens, though, allow us to stay in one place and use the lens to shift the composition of the picture.
Zoom lens are generally "slower" that is, they do not work as well in low light environments. Zoom lens, while they have improved greatly over the years, are not as sharp in taking pictures.
Lens are generally called wide-angle, normal or telephote lens. normal lens (usally considered a 50mm lens) is considered to be the closest match to a human eye's field of vision. Wide angle lens (generally lens below 50mm. Popular sizes include 24mm, 28mm and 35mm.) tend to show more than the human eye's angle of vision. Many zoom lens start at the 28mm and work their way up the scale to a short telephoto
length.
telephoto lens are generally considered anything over 55mm. These telephoto lens compress the field of vision to an area that that is less than the human eye can see from side to side.
There are also speciality lens like macro lens but I figure I have "talked" enough for one day!

I have a Canon 28-200mm USM for my Rebel 2000. It is a sharp lense, for about $300-350. Its a wide angle-telephoto lense. Check more on all types of lenses here in the "All about photography" section. You'll find your answer.
