Photography Question

Michelle M. Gumina

Exposure Compensation

It is a simple question really...so it might sound a bit ridiculous. When it says that I a can either go up or down a stop or a stop and a half to avoid under or overexposing my shot what exactly am I to adjust? My aperture or my shutter?

Thanks so much,
Michelle.

Whichever you like. 1 Stop steps in aperture are a multiple of 1.4 apart (f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, etc.). 1 Stop steps in shutter speed are a multiple of 2 apart (1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, etc.)
