Using Teleconverter for Canon

I have just bought a Kenko 2x Teleconverter for my Canon, with Tokina 28-210. I am thinking of getting the 50mm 1.4 lens as I would like the extra "luminosity".
Question: will I be able to use the Kenko converter with the new lens to give me effectively a 100mm at 2.o/2.8?
If not, why not?
(Apologoies if this is in the wrong section - I'm new to better photo and need to learn EVERYTHING!!

The Kenko 2x TC will work with the 50mm f/1.4. The combiniation will will give 100mm f/2.8.
