Poor light, long distance, action shots!
I recently received a Nikon Coolpix 5700 for my birthday from my husband. My problem is my son performs in vocal music show choir. This means I am trying to take a long distance, poor light, action shot! I haven't been to successful as of yet. I can get great shots if they hold still but, this is a group that dances around to lively songs. I have never been that interested in photography but, since I can see the results instantly with digital I am learning. I would love to have a hint for this difficult combination. Thank you, Mendy

Your best bet is to get the Nikon SB-80DX flash. It will give you enough light for shots 50+ feet away and freeze the action. They run about $349 and Nikon gives a $30 mail-in rebate.

Thank you so much for answering my question. I will look into that. The camera has set us back so much it may take a while. Thank you, Mendy
