Photography Question

Kris L.

Which filter should I use?

I have a Nikon N65. I'm just starting out with photography. I'm interested in getting a filter for Black and White photos. I'm going to do some test photos using a few local models (fashion photography). Which filter should I use?

My recommendation is NONE. In low-contrast situations, such as a gray overcast day, you might try to boost the contrast with a yellow, orange, or red filter, in order of degree. Some people shoot foliage with a green filter, as that lightens the green. Be careful about a piece of glass you put over your lens. Use only Hoya or other top-quality filters, if you use one at all.

Thank you. I will keep that in mind (Hoya). I wasn't sure of what type to get. Thanks again. Kris
