Photography Question

Christine E. Kesecker

what film do I use?

Ok I see all the photographs being taken and how perfect they all look. Is there a special film that is the way to go or do I keep buying my Fuji or Kodak from my local store? Also, where can I buy Kodak Porta 400?

Thank you from a beginner photographer :)

Film choice is dependent upon a number of factors. What are you shooting? What are you going to do with the end result? What do you want it to look like? There's no one magic film that will do it all. And there are a multitude of shooting subjects and conditions that all require different films. That being said, a good photographer can make good images on poor film. It's more than film and equipment, although those things do play a role. Another component is the lab. A good lab can take an image that was poorly printed elsewhere and make it sing.

Portra films are professional films and you either need to find a camera store locally that carries pro films or go online. B&H is a great source for film and other equipment. www.bhphotovideo.com

Hope this helps.
