How to Retrieve Film from Cannister Using a camera I am somewhat unfamiliar with, I decided to rewind my film back into the cannister with the idea of leaving a leader... that puppy zapped all the way inside. I understand there are film retrieval tools you can buy. Aren't there ways to do this yourself without a tool? I would like to try a "home remedy" first, but I'm not sure what to do. I would appreciate any ideas of information on how to do this.

OK, I am answering my own question. On my NINTH piece of tape, I managed to get a hold of the film leader and pulled it out. I took some Scotch packaging tape and cut about an 1-1/2 inches off. Then I folded it in on each side (toward the sticky side) about 1/2 an inch so I had a sticky middle. This is the fun part!! Cram it in the cannister while using the the part to roll it into the cannister. Only roll it in a little way; then, gently pull it out and if you're lucky, you'll get that leader. It took me quite a few tries, but I got it. :)

Go buy one of the tools. They're not very expensive. :-)))

I'm with Jeff. One of those tools is cheaper than the therapy sessions you will need if you fiddle around with the tape idea.

Thanks for the information. I'll buy one of those tools -- anything to make life easier!
