Photography Question

Cynthia Alain

Point and Shoot

I use a Canon EOS 3 and a variety of professional quality lenses for my "serious" photography. However, I would like the convenience of having a point and shoot to keep with me at all times for those photo ops. Can anyone recommend a high quality point & shoot that I will be happy with?

You're used to decent optics. I doubt that you'd be satisfied with bowed lines at the edges of your shots of buildings and interiors, and autofocus that cannot be overridden. However, you're right in wanting to keep a camera with you always. The Olympus Stylus Epic has only a 35-mm f 2.8 lens, but is reported to be excellent and the camera is only $80.
The no longer made Yashica T4 is a similar camera that has gotten excellent reviews, and is a tad more expensive. Finally, the Ricoh GR-1s and GR-1v have a 28-mm lens of phenomenal quality and can override most automatic functions. It's about $450. Check out the reviews on this site for more.
