montage techniques

My son gave to me Adobe Photoshop 6 last year, because I was interested in combining two slides to create unusual effects for the last 30 years.
I enjoy experimenting with montages so much that I purposely overexpose scenes just so I can put two slides to gather.
But for the likes of me I can not do it on the computer ( I bought your book Adobe Photoshop for Photographers 6.0 ) and still can not do it, I am too old 75.
Would you be so kind to email the instructions on how to do it ( copy, paste, layers, channels or paths.)

Your sincerely Arthur Jeggo

You can copy and paste, cut and paste, or simply drag one image on top of another. You first must make sure they are the same resolution or when you combine them the sizes won't be the same. I like to drag one image onto a blank canvas and then drag the other image on top of that. Once you've copied or dragged the images you will have an image with three layers. You can now move these layers and adjust their opacity as you see fit. Your options are practically limitless. (consequently I can't list them all here)
