What Is Meant By "L Series Glass" in Lenses?


What is meant by "L" series when refering to Canon glass lenses and why are they better?

Besides their use of more expensive Ultralow Dispersion (UD) glass elements, and their exclusive use of Flourite crystal elements, the L-series lenses are constructed for heavy professional use with more rugged cast-alloy barrels, weather sealing, and other features.
