Lens Filters I was wondering about how lens filters work. Since there are so many different colors and styles of filters, how can you tell what type of effect each will produce? I have seen black&white filters, UV filters, special effect filters and many others, and I am confused as to how to tell which are best for a specific result.

Hoya and the other filter companies put out good sales brochures that explain what each do. The Tiffen Web site has some help but the best, by far, is the Tokina/Hoya Web site. This site includes many pictures that illustrate the various effects.
