Darkroom or Lightroom - which is better?

I am thinking of buying a complete darkroom set of equipment for black & white printing. Is it wise -considering the move now is into the digital age? Should I instead budget for a scanner and printer combination? If so, can members recommend a scanner and/or printer? It seems everyone is getting rid of their darkroom equipment in favour of a digital lightroom - in view of this, is it wise to buy a set of darkroom equipment(secondhand)? I intend to mainly use it for black & white printing intended for personal to exhibition purposes.

Have you done b&w printing? It is time consuming but satisfying as well. Do what you think you will enjoy the most. I am one of those who sold my darkroom equipment in favor of digital. But then I'm a professional and I just don't have time to use a wet darkroom.

I have darkroom equipment to give to a good home for the cost of shipping. I'd loved using it when I was single or before childen came into our lives. And I'd love to be able to do it again, but due to the size of our home and the damage caused by Hurricane Rita, we don't have room or time. There is nothing wrong with my Simon Omega Variable Condensor and D-2 enlarger with a Schneider lens, except that at the moment I'm unable to locate the 2 1/4 square negative holder, which I used for years.

My husband wants me to downsize my "stuff" and I need to find a home for the enlarger and its rolling stand. I'll give it away for the cost of shipping, even though it's in good shape...just to get my husband off my back.

For more information, email me at Bunny@bunnysnow.us

Thanks.

We've located the 2 1/4 square negative carrier for my Simon Omega condenser Enlarger and Schneider lens. I've photographed close up images of my equipment and placed it under the word "Enlarger" at my web site. Go to:

Everything is old, but in good shape. We are estimating shipping to be about $75.00 across the USA.

Contact me if you are interested.
