I AM PLANNING TO BUY A MACRO LENS, WHICH ONE IS BETTER THE CANON 100 F2.8L OR THE SIGMA 105MM F2.8

  I would suggest the Canon for only one reason. The lens doesn't extend as you get closer to the subject which the Sigma does. They both are as capable as the photographer using them and are excellent. The non IS Canon is as good as the one with it but when shooting in the mid range distances the IS can be of assistaance if you need it. The IS is useless at macro distances since minute shake at close distances cannot be detected.
