Please suggest DSLR for beginners. I have just started my career in photography , but I am a bit confused in choosing DSLR. Please let me know about the options available.The DSLR shouldn't be costly , but it should ensure to cover all the features required to take best photograph.

Best of luck to you, Rachit! What you'll likely discover is that the camera you choose has a lot less impact on the "best photograph" than you might think. (Even if you had the money right now to buy a $6,000 top-line SLR, it wouldn't automatically make great photographs for you. And BetterPhoto is full of photographers who use non-SLR point-and-shoot cameras to produce award-winning photographs.) In my opinion, the photographer behind the camera is the biggest factor in producing a fantastic photograph; the gear is simply a tool to help achieve a goal or vision... It sounds like perhaps you are quite new to digital photography; nobody here will be able to tell you "Get this specific camera, and you'll do fine." For starting out, however, my personal experience from the past is that Canon's Rebel series of cameras is EXTREMELY capable, and full of useful features, at an entry-level cost. I found it to be a very good camera for someone to begin to learn the fundamentals of photography and SLR operation.

Chris is right. I still use a point and shoot camera part of the time. I have a low end Canon DSLR but can't afford a lot of lenses, so the Point and shoot steps in to help out in places where my budget fails me.

Thanks a lot Christopher & Carolyn...i do agree with Christopher..it's the photographer who uses his skills & creativity in producing eye catching photographs :) I have clicked so many photographs with my 5 mp camera & it comes out to be fantastic...but as you know I want to excel in this field more..so need something that is very cost efficient,good in features(atleast cover the basic functionality). should I go for canon or nikon ? as both are master's in their own field.

NIKON of course, Rachit ;) Welcome to the endless World of photography. Only thing I would caution you about buying a DSLR is the soon-to-follow "lens lust" phenomena. Are you related to Mukesh Srivastava, if yes, then the only DSLR you should buy is a Nikon, as you already have a nice collection of lenses to take advantage of. Good luck and welcome to BP! UB.

First you need to determine, or announce here, what your price range is and find which camera falls into that range. And consider that there might be a good condition used camera that has more to offer, but that is in the price range that you want for a new camera.

If cost is an issue, you get a lot more for your money with Pentax, the K-5 and the very capable but much less expensive K-r. You can then free up more money for lenses. Pentax has a line of very good compact prime lenses. For the cost of one of these DA primes, you can get a Tamron f 2.8 zoom, in the range of about 17-50mm.

That exchange rate comes to about $750 US dollars. So you're looking at something like the Canon rebel or a Pentax k-r. A google search for the price of the Pentax has it listed anywhere from $550 to around $800. Which is a wide range, so you'd have to do some more looking into the places that say they're selling that kind.

After all "It's not the Violin, It's the violinist that produces superior results. Personally I shoot with the Canon EOS T2i which costs around $600 including a great kit lens, Canon's 18-55 kit lens. I love the kit lens: it has decent wide angle coverage and mild telephoto coverage. Incidentally, Nikon sells a similar kit.
