Apple vs PC

What are your thoughts on a new computer? I am looking at laptops and have looked at Apples and PCs which one do you use and why did you choose it? When I compare the pricing for a good upper end PC vs Apple there is not much differance. I have a iPhone and love it. I thought I would ask everyone's opinion before I buy a new computer. I currently have a HP pavilion but is about 7 years old and very slow and out dated.

Switched from a lifetime of PC to Apple about 3 years ago (15" MacBook Pro laptop) and have loved every minute of it. Ultimately at the end of the day, they're both just computers, but it seems Apple has found lots of little (and a few big) ways to simply improve upon the end-user experience... from ease of set up, ease of software installations, to lack of crashes, and elegant, clean, thoughtful and smart designs...
You could try and argue, who needs to pay for good design? But lots of good design ideas (hardware and software) add up to make the many, many hours we humans spend tied to our computers all the more enjoyable and efficient. There's your answer ;)
Keep in mind that if you make the switch entirely, you'll likely need to buy Mac versions of your favorite software (though the Macs do allow you to partition the hard drive and create a Windows zone, to run PC-Windows software, if you desire.) I opted for a cold-turkey switch over to Mac. You'll also spend some time learning new keyboard combinations (if you were a heavy shortcuts-user in Windows.)

I on the other hand went from a PC laptop to an iMac. The larger screen was great as well as the lack of Spam and other nuicances. But I couldn't get used to the workflow. It didn't help that the motherboard and a few other things were bad. So I returned to a PC. This time a desktop and a 24" screen.

The difference between a laptop screen and a large screen when it comes to photoprocessing makes a huge difference. You will find the larger screens easier to work with and get better results regardless if it is a PC or Mac. Some people are purchasing a larger screen and plugging it into the laptop computer and using both screens.

Anyone want to buy a completely refurbished 21.5" iMac? Unused since the work was done.

I might be interested my husband wants a desktop and I want the laptop. I currently have a laptop with a large monitor pluged in along with key board and mouse but I can pack it up and take it with me when I want to. I do love the big 27" screens but if the price is right 21.5 might be just fine..

I did what Chistopher B. did and went from a pc (dell), which I used for years to a 15" MacBook Pro laptop. It took some getting used to, but I love it more than I ever did the pcs. I just changed operating systems today, and boy was I scared. Doing that on a PC is a major problem, but I have to say, it was flawless on the Mac and I worried for nothing. It is just great. If you're on the fence over which to purchase, do a lot of internet searching and read reviews, especially those relating to photography and the use of a Mac vs. a PC. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that a lot of Pro Photographers are Mac owners.

I use a laptop at work (also an HP Pavilion) and a mac laptop and iMac at home. The iMac is for the hard work & when I need the large screen & the laptop is for browsing & simple photo editing.

I find Apple computers MUCH better than laptops in almost every way. Easier to use, more reliable, more secure, faster, updates that improve rather than worsen things and so on.

Go for the mac. You won't regret it.

Not gonna get into all the technical stuff, but I have been using PC's at work for 32 years and Apple computers at home for about 28 ... I much prefer the Apples.

I did I I bought a Mac. Went with the 21" the 27" would not work on my desk. But I am very happy with it I am now working on getting all new programs. Just orders office and will get the photoshop next week. I have seen what great work everyone on betterphoto can do with photoshop so I am going to get it then sigh up for some classes.

Thanks for everyone's input it sure made me feel a lot better about switching.
