colorizing in PSE

some time back on a PSE thread, someone told how to add a "spot of color" to a B/W image using the selection tools. I t was a fairly simple process and I thought I remembered how to do it but cant (old age ya know)....couldn't find it referenced in my Scott Kelby book...a little help?
BTW last night I figured out how to do the reverse (make an object BW in a color photoO
thanks

  Hi Dave,
There are a couple of ways to do this but what I do is make a duplicate layer (with layer mask) and after converting the top layer to B&W, I use the brush tool to reveal the color from the 2nd layer to show through.
I learned this technique in 1 of Lewis Kemper's toolbox classes :)
