Phello Photographers Club- Portrait of a Stranger

Jeff didn't tell me what to say for this one, but I'm guessing it's pretty much self explanitory. :~)

I got a bit better at this as the weekend came to an end. These were shot on the tram and although the tram was moving pretty fast these are not horrible. A very sweet couple. I've already sent Maria these pics.

And here was my hard case. Rita kept telling me that it would be easy so I approached this photographer in the area where we saw the big-horned sheep. She was not friendly and didn't really want her picture taken. I just started talking to her and she relented. This is my favorite one of three -one went in the trash. Dale will tell me to straighten it but I like it the way it is. If she'd been nicer, I would have asked for her email address and send it to her. Later, with the other couple, I gave out a business card to have them contact me -- less invasive and it worked.

I should have pulled the girl away and shot just her....she was gorgeous. But she was with the guy... and I had started the conversation by saying that I needed to capture a couple in love....

She has amazing eyes - I can understand why, in hindsight, you would want her picture.

But at that point I was just giddy with excitement that I asked strangers if I could take their picture - and they said yes!

Phellos -- Thank you so much for having this "assignment" on the Vegas trip. Unlike the first woman I encountered, this couple was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I really got to know them well and feel better for hearing their amazing story of love and courage. Not the hip, ultra-cool people that many of us photographed at The Strip, but very friendly, gracious and down-to-earth people with a story to tell. This is my favorite one. It just shows a random couple at the dam who are obviously still very much in love with each other. Stacie has undergone numerous operations to get rid of cancer and her husband is on a year-long sabbatical from the Air Force to take care of her and enjoy what America has to offer by traveling most of the year in-between doctor's visits and such. Truly, a memorable experience for me. I was glad I chose them because these pictures may or may not become important to the family if her prognosis gets worse.
