You might want to check out William Neill's portfolio development course here at BP..(He just may be the best photographer on the planet.)

Thank you but at this time I can't afford to take a course. I just need a little info to start working toward the idea of portfolio. Your time is treasured.

  Hi Diane,

That is a very good question, and I hope I can help you answer that. I am going to recommend a book for you to pick up by Jim Zuckerman. It is simply titled "Shooting & Selling your Photos". The book should cost you less than $20.00. Its (c) 2003.

Jim is a most excellent photographer and I respect both his work, and writing. Chapter 4 is Building Your Image. He goes into great detail from every concievable angle. I especially love how he says "Don't give your photos cutsie titles like you see in art fairs as this makes you seem like a rank amateur." I can appreciate the fact he just lays it on the line with his advise. I'm in the business, I have tried his methods, and can say they work.

I would think one could snag this on amazon pretty cheap.
~Best, Tom
