Photography Question

Pat Harry

Is this lens flare?

I took a photo of the moon a couple of nights ago. The clouds were beautiful around the moon. However, due to the slow shutter speed, the clouds just appear as soft haze around the moon.

But just to the right of the moon is a faint geometric shape. Is this lens flare? I realize the moon is really over-exposed, so I'm thinking that has caused what I'm seeing.

Here's the photo: http://www.patharry.com/p917564832/h33bd73d1#h33bd73d1

You may need to click it once to enlarge it enough to see what I'm talking about.

Thanks.

That link doesn't work for some reason. Here it is again:

The clouds were moving fairly fast.

  Hi Pat,
The address works, but this part of the site doesn't like links. Anyway it is a lens flare, but it isn't really significant on the on line version of the image. It's possible it would be more visible in a print.
Thanks, John Siskin

It worked fine for me. As John said though, I don't see it as a problem in this image.
