Canon SD1400 IS shutter speed

I got my daughter a Canon SD1400 IS for Christmas and can"t find anything about how to set the shutter speed. Seems almost most all photos she has taken are blurred badly. I have read the info that came with it and tried to google it and nothing! Would appreciate any help!
Thanks
Wayne

From a quick glance through the owner's manual online, it appears the camera has very few manually-selectable controls, and none for shutter speed---which is typical of pocket-sized point-and-shoots. It appears to have a handful of pre-programmed Modes, and the ability to manually set ISO and adjust Exposure Compensation... I couldn't locate info on whether the camera is fully Image-Stabilized all the time, or whether you can turn that stabilization on or off.
Be sure she's using the appropriate Mode for the given subject matter and type of lighting.
