Portrait Retouching Software

I would like to branch out into portrait photography. (I'm a hobbyist, definitely not a pro.) I have Photoshop CS3, which I can use to retouch portraits. But I'm very slow at this, and it's a bit hit or miss for me when it comes to portraits. Is there software specifically geared towards portraits that comes highly recommended? Or would I be better off to boost my PS skills?
