flash battery

I need a battery pack that can keep up with my 1D MK III. I bought a small one but when I'm on high continuous shooting it flashes only on every 3rd of 4th shot. Suggestions? Thanks a ton guys.

  Sherri,

From what you described I would say that your battery pack is doing a superb job.
The problem is in the nature of the flash. They have to recharge in between photos. Even large studio flashes with tremendous battery packs couldn't do any better. I believe that the high continuous rate is 10 frames per second. That means it is flashing every 1/2 second or faster.
The only thing I can suggest is to set your flash at half power, up your ISO or open up another f stop. Even this may not rectify your problem. I believe that there are some very expensive flashes that are capable of doing what you desire but do not know where to find them. The normal on camera flashes are not designed for your purposes.

Thanks Lynn; no the 1D doesn't have an on camera flash. I'm using a 580 EX and I shot a dock diving contest this weekend, it did pretty good.

  Sheri,

When I mention on-camera flash I mean one that is attached to the camera atop the prism. Especially with a full frame camera. :-) That is opposed to a built in flash. Of course you are probably using a bracket mount for the diving contest in which it is considered, nowadays, as off-camera.
