Placing Copyright On Photos

Hello BetterPhoto Photographers. I have a couple of questions. I have Photoshop 7 and want to be able to place my copyright on my photos. I have tried using the help key but have had no luck. My other questions is I am going to start matting & framing some of my photos for sale and was wondering, do any of you place your copyright on the front of the photos that you frame and sell or would that be distracting to the photo? I appreciate any suggestions anyone can offer. Thank you.

I think in Photoshop 7 you have to import your signature or the copyright as another layer and then bring the opacity down if you want it like a watermark. Its been since college since I worked in 7 though....there might be an easier way but that way should work.

When I have donated photos to charity auctions and such I either add my signature to the picture digitally or sign it in an inconspicuous location. The bottom right corner is common. I also put a copyright on the back of the photo.

  Hello Nanette,
In Photoshop, use the Type tool and on a Mac use option+G to get the copyright © symbol or cntrl+alt+0169 on a PC. You can also select the font & size and use the color picker to select the type color & also use the opacity slider to blend.
I would never have this on a print or if so, I would put it on the back of the image.
Hope this helps,
Carlton

Lynsey and Carlton: Thank you for your help. I will try it out this weekend and let you know how it works. I figured that you wouldn't put the copyright on the front, but I have seen it both ways and wanted to make sure I do it the appropriate way. Thank you and have a great Labor Day weekend.

Hi Nanette,
I believe its just alt+0169 on a PC, I am a MAC user :) Have some fun being creative with your copyright as I will select a color & font that compliments the photo and I even have some sneaky ones that most people dont notice :)
Look at the rail on the bottom left of this image.
Carlton
