Infrared Photography? Have any of you experimented with infrared photography, and what was the outcome? I find infrared photography very neat and interesting to look at and was curious about the methods, how you liked it, and most of all, how you went about doing this.

Hi Tammy, Good questions, and I have the answers for you! Well, not me :-) but Deborah Sandidge, a very creative pro photographer here at BP. Deb actually wrote the book on the subject and also teaches Digital Infrared Photography. Check out Deb's excellent Instructor Insights blogs:
Have fun, Tammy!

Hey thanks so much Kerry D. I was actually reading up on the subject with all the information on the WWW and found the subject extremely interesting and perhaps a challenge but still very doable. I will also check out the links you have provided and see if it's something I would like to try and learn more about with all that I currently have going on. Thanks for taking time out of your life to read my question and give a reply. I really appreciate it. Tammy

Tammy, I enjoy IR photography and will send you some info later tonight. Ideally, you'll want to convert one of your cameras because the newer style DSLRs block the IR signal and you'd need very long exposures with the R72 filter. I used to have a point/shoot camera from 2000 and used the Hoya R72 filter. Then, I mailed my older Digital Rebel to a conversion place and it's strictly an IR camera now without the limitation of slow shutter speeds. And there's a workflow when I download them into Photoshop. Bottom line...go for it!! :-)

Ho Tammy, I have an older 1DS that I am going to send to lifepixel.com to have converted to IR. Contact Deb as she has various discounts from different companies and recommendations for which IR filter would best suit what you want to achieve. Maybe we will be classmates soon in Debs class :) Cheers,
