Insuring camera equpment I've asked this before but didn't get any response. I'd like to insure my camera equipment, anyone have the name of a good company that does this?

First off, check with your homeowners policy if you have one, it may cover you or you may be able to get a rider on the policy for coverage. You might go to the artshow_photo group at Yahoo groups and search there. The topic of insurance comes up now and then and there may be a link that will help you. Search the archives for "insurance". No my homeowners won't. I'm in the "professional" category so that's where the difference lies. I've tried two and if you make money on your photos they won't cover the equipment. I know it seems crazy.

Look at some of the professional photography organizations such as PPA or SEP. Both of them offer insurance programs, there are others I'm sure. A local insurance agent should also be able to find a company that will issue a policy. Jeff

I went with my local State Farm agent - he created a business policy for me with eqpt coverage and liability based on what I have and the location work that I do. I think they use a third party company for the business insurance, but I deal directly with my local agent only, which is nice.
