adapt an older lens to a new camers

My "problem" is this. I now have a Sony A-100 digital. My question: can I adapt an older SOLIGOR 500 mm. "mirror lens", so it will work on the A 100???
Is there any danger it will make the Sony not work, and harm the camera??

Thanks a lot

Zero risk of damage to the camera.

If the Soligor is made with the Sony Alpha (aka Minolta Dynax/Maxxum/A) mount, then you can mount it directly. If the lens mount is for another system, then you need to find the correct adapter for whatever mount it has (T-mount, M42 screw mount, etc.) to the Sony Alpha/Dynax/Maxxum/A mount.

Because the lens will have no communication with the camera, you'll have to set the A100 to shoot without lens attached. (see the A100 manual p. 96. Shutter lock Off: no lens).

Set exposure manually in M mode. It might also work in Aperture Priority mode to automatically set the shutter speed for you. Canon EOS cameras work this way with manual lenses, I'm not sure about the Sony Alpha cameras.
