Topaz Detail

This just in from Eric @ Topaz labs:

The new Photoshop plug-in Topaz Detail manipulates image detail and sharpness without creating any edge artifacts. Sharpen without oversharpening, accentuate details without increasing noise, and add dynamism to photos without making them look fake. Check it out here:

http://www.topazlabs.com/detail

Truly artifact-free edge manipulation has only been made possible by some very recent advances in image processing. All other sharpening and detail manipulation techniques up until this point either produce edge halos or drastically increase the noise levels in the image. Topaz Detail does neither, which makes it perfectly suited for stunning but completely natural image enhancement.

Looks cool, but I doubt if it will work with my PS7 or any of the older ones. I have a lot of trouble with my Topaz Adjust (the newer version) shutting my photoshop down when I use it. I wish they would think about all the PS7 users still out there that will never be able to afford the newer versions. We like new filters, too!

  Carolyn,
This one looks like it will work on PS7 & PSE7.

System Recommendations

Windows XP or Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
1 GB RAM
Adobe Photoshop 7 through CS4, Adobe Photoshop Elements 1 through 7, or another editor that supports Photoshop plug-ins. These include: Irfanview, PaintShop Pro.

Thanks Carlton for sharing. You are always such a great source of advice and help. As BP says 'a true contributor to the BP community'.

Bravo...

Yes Carlton is always there to help. I really appreciate him too, Usman. Glad someone noticed he is such a "great source of advice and help, as well as a true contributor to the BP community" I've always told he was and I'm glad others recognize it as well. Yeah Carlton!

I downloaded the 30 day free trial of the Topaz Detail filter last night and have worked on one photo I plan to submit today. It's a portrait and I am really impressed with it's capabilities so far! I recommend the 30 day trial, it also lets you save the image you've worked on as well...some trials don't let you save your image!

I have Adjust and use it on PSE 6.0 and it works very well, but I do recall the first version of it shutting down on me all the time. Carolyn...have you gotten version 3.0 of Adjust? If you have not then I suggest getting it from them. If you paid for Adjust then you can get updated versions free so you have nothing to loose.

This new filter looks awesome....I LOVE TOPAZ LABS! :~)

It's the version 3 that shuts down on me. The original version is fine, if a little slow. And 3 works, it just shuts photoshop down after it processes.

Boy is that strange....I had that problem with the old version....hmmmmmm! Why don't you shoot Topaz a message about it. I have found them always very quick to respond and help with problems. :~)

I might do that. I'll probably order this new one after I get back from Iowa the first of next month. I'll see what happens with that new one and then if there's a problem, I can catch both at the same time. LOL

Let me know what you find out Carolyn because it's been known to shut down on me as well. And that's the Adjust 3.0 so it is the new version.

I just did a couple with it and the first one went ok and the second try it shut down. By the time I get back, you all should have the new one all figured out if you like it or not.
