Discussion Thread is not available anymore The question is directed to BetterPhoto team. The discussion thread of at least one of my images (Winner picture - ARCH-ictecture is not available anymore). I have checked all the discussion threads of my images yet! Wondering if this is a technical glitch of some kind that you guys need to take a look into. Would also like to know if other BPers also experiencing the same! To me discussions are a source for my motivation and a great connection to BP community and loosing them just like that does not feel too good!

This very question is being discussed on the July EP thread also. I went to look at my gallery and found one discussion thread missing on my 11/10/08 image and one on my 12/12/08 image. It seems to be random. Some of the members have written BP about the situation but have not heard back at this point. I wonder if they are running out of broadband?

I know this is of-topic, but one thing that really bothers me is that for some members even when you change the gallery layout you can't see the photo description, that's why I'm going back and forward from classic to new version. Wish some day BP can fix that.

I have lost a number of threads. The most recent I have noticed is 1/20/09. Some with missing threads did not even receive an EP. I wonder when we will hear from BP.

Hi Everyone- So sorry for the confusion caused. BP ran into a legal situation that required that we remove a small chunk of older discussion threads. I wish I could go into it more and rant about it but we're going to have to bite our tongues on this one. We were dealing with this situation on the day right before the fire, but thankfully this situation had nothing to do with the fire. We lost no data or photos and all our servers were fine. We just lost power along with every other business hosted in the building. Once power was restored everything was back to normal.

Thanks for that info, Jay. Can you at least tell us whether our images were part of the issue, or were they connected only by the time? Time does not seem to be the reason since images on adjoining dates wee not affected. Is it impossible to regain any of those discussions?

Does "here" mean on this thread, or at BP? There are two problems involved in the deletion of discussions. First is the loss of comments from friends that I value. Second is the risk of Guilt by Association. People's imaginations can come up with far worse scenarios than reality can ever generate.

Thanks Jay for responding to clear some of the air here. I understand that BP would rather not indulge in more details of the legal wrangling at hand. However, can we expect to see these threads back sometime in future (hopefully when the legal stuff gets sorted out) or are these gone forever? AND is there a possibility that more threads will be taken away?

All fair questions. 1) I made several changes so that new discussions can be started on the photos that had affected discussions 2) The old discussions won't be displayed again but this is a one time unique situation and new threads will not be removed unless they violate BP terms as usual. The situation that caused this is over. Lastly on a personal note, I really feel badly about having to pull some threads. I know feedback and encouragement with friends through discussions is extremely important to everyone and having to remove even a small portion was not taken lightly.

I'm glad I found this discussion. I was wondering what was going on. I noticed there were photos removed on the Winners pages in December 2008 & January 2009. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with the BP member that wasn't using her own images for the contest.

I only just realized that I too have a couple winning images missing threads... glad I know now what went wrong...my question is why couldn't we have at least been notified that "something" was up, and that they couldn't elaborate more but that they were trying to rectify this.... way back then, instead of now? Was just a thought. But hey, I'm glad it wasn't anything we did ourselves, lol. I appreciate BP taking the time to reassure us at any rate. Guess I won't worry too much.
