Photography Question

Your Opinion Please.....

Hi!

Does this collage work or is it too busy or????

I really appreciate your opinion. My girlfriend has asked me to do this for her boyfriend who is a captain of a whale watch company. I have never done one of these before.

Thank you so much.

Michele

Hi Michele, in my opinion it is too busy. The photos run together and its hard for me to tell what is what. Have you tried separating each image with a black border and then arranging them on the image with a white background.

Thanks Sherry so much for your comment.. I really do appreciate it. I agree with you. I think making individual photos with borders around each on one background (solid) would be better, however, this is what my girlfriend wanted, was something all blended together, but I don't think its going to work. Time to do it the way you and I are thinking and present that to her with this one and let her choose. Thanks again!!

I agree with Sherry, seperating them would work better. After carefully studying them, I was able to differentiate and the images, in and of themselves, are awesome. I would not change the images. I would just re-do the collage and border the images. Lightroom might be able to help you with that. You may even find some actions or scripts for Photoshop. I never designed a collage so I can't really offer help on how to do it.

Thanks Jesse. I have done several colloges so it wasn't a problem redoing it. Thank you so much for your opinion. It turned out a lot better the individual collage way. If you ever want a lesson on how to do a simple collage, let me know and I will be more than happy to guide you through it. I use Photoshop, so am not familiar with lightroom.

I think it would work the way it is if it made sense in the frame...that is, rather than have everything jumbled together, arrange it like it might look in the wild...the whales should be far away, the little bird could be in a corner up close, etc...

Just my two cents...:O)

I agree with those who say it is too busy. When you first look at it, you are turned off because it is such a mish mash, seeming to make no sense. If you take the time to study it, you can see the different images and they are eye catching. If your friend's boyfriend is going to be using this as part of his advertising, you want to be sure that it immediately grabs the viewer's attention and stimulates interest in signing up for the cruise. in its present form it does not do that. I suggest you make another stab at it, providing some means for each image to stand out, but still be part of the whole.
