color disparity in photoshop I have noticed that the color of my photos is much more vibrant in lightroom than it is when I open it in photoshop. I have set both programs to prophoto rgb and 16 bit color. Does anyone know what causes this? I am concerned about the lack of consistency and am not confident that my photos will look saturated properly on screen and when I print. My monitor is calibrated with an eyeone device. Thanks, Kathleen

Hi Kathleen, Did you set up a profile with your EyeOne calibration software ? Set Lightroom & Photoshop to the color profile you created with EyeOne and this should solve the problem. Carlton

Thanks, Carlton, I am new to lightroom, and I can't figure out how to set it to my monitor profile. When I go to preferences, external editing, the only three choices are prophoto rgb, adobe rgb, and srgb. When I changed photoshop to my monitor profile, the color looked even more dull than when it was set to prophoto rgb. Suggestions? (By the way, I notice you often answer questions for people on the forums, and your time and effort is appreciated!)

Thank you for the compliment Kathleen, I try to help when I can as I am still learning a lot about photography myself and by being interactive keeps me engaged. If your calibrated monitor looks worse, you need to stop and get this worked out. I am not familiar with EyeOne but have heard good things about it. It should guide you through step by step and you may need to set your monitor brightness & color controls and then run your calibration. I keep my room fairly dark and it is consistent during the day & night as ambient light will affect your calibration. I also re-calibrate every 2-3 weeks or if I change anything (like window coverings) I will calibrate again. Once you get calibrated you should see an improvement and be prompted for a color profile name to call the new profile you just created. I name mine Spyder2 (since I use Spyder2 calibration) and then I set my monitor, Photoshop & printer to that profile. I dont use Lightroom (it is next on my software list) but I did find a blog about setting Lightroom or the printer profile to control Lightroom - http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/LR/Set+print+color+management+-+Basics Hope this helps,
