Manually setting the ISO in D40 Nikon.

Dear Nikon D40 users,

I am unable to select manually the ISO when using the D40 in Manual mode. It just has automatically assigns the ISO to the images. The choices for manullay adjusting are only, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and 3200.

In some of the shots I would like to have the ability to set the ISO rating in between. Couldn't figure out.

I hope someone helps me.

Thanks in advance.

Usman.

Check that ISO AUTO is OFF. Custom Setting #10, p. 76 of the manual (English).

I have checked and tried with ISO AUTO put to OFF, still only gives me the preset ISOs. I am thinking maybe the D40 does not have the capability of setting ISO in between the preset numbers!!

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. You are right, the D40 can only set ISO in 1 EV steps of 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 (100, 200, ... for the D40X).
