Overly Bright Saturated Color

I got a new Canon 50D for Christmas. I've been shooting my head off because there is a learning curve with a new camera. BUT I'm really having a problem with overly bright almost over saturated color. I do shoot in daylight but I did with my XTi also and got nothing close to this. I've tried to turn down the color saturation in the "picture style" menu but it did not help. Next I guess I try turning down the Color Tone to see if that does it. They can look flat at times too even when I shooting ISO 100, F/4 & SS of 1/500. If ANYONE could help me with this I would be forever grateful as I'm becoming a little discouraged.

Which exposure mode are you using?
It could be the work of the Auto Lighting Optimizer, a new "feature" Canon has added to models since the XTi. p.177 of the manual. Check the setting of C.Fn II-4. Set it = 1 (Low) or = 3 (Disabled) and see if that helps.

Thanks so much Jon. I'm heading out to try it now. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Ann, you could post an example of a photo that you feel is oversaturated so people can see what you're talking about.
