Photography Question

Tammy J. Bradley

Opinions please??

Just hoping I can get some feedback from some of the professional, or even semi- professional freelance photographers out there. My website is www.tammyspics.com and comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm wondering which of my photos, if any, would be saleable as fine art and how to price them. Please take a look. Thanks so much. :)

Before you get too wrapped up in critiques, I suggest you ask yourself a few questions about what, more exactly, are you trying to accomplish with your work and where do you want to go with it. Then, ask the second question we all need to ask ourselves, which is what, if anything, you feel YOU can do to make it better and saleable.

Once you get a handle on those two salient issues, you need to direct your efforts toward targeting your specific market. If you asked me whether I thought your images would make it in a fine art gallery, I'd tell you that I live in Carmel, CA (adjacent to it) and I look at galleries ever time I walk down a Carmel street when I'm home. Suffice it to say, I think you'd best go after a market like greeting cards at this point although I have to say I'm certainly no expert in the art market.

To find those markets, take a look at Photographers Market published by Writers Digest Press, for example. Send out some prints, a few query letters, be specific and keep trying.
Take it light. Remember this is a very tough market, especially now. Your competition is everyone with a digital camera and an economy that's currently in the tank.

Take it light ;>)

  Tammy,

ANY image is saleable; ANY!

As Mark correctly points out,
1) Identifying your market is.
2) Approaching this market.
3) Selling to this market.

None of those three issues has anything to do with photography.

I have seen what I consider aesthetically, compositionally and technically garbage photography that sells well.

Conversely; I have also seen the opposite that doesn't generate a dime.

Are your images saleable? Sure.
Can you sell them? I don't know.

Here is what I consider some pretty good information..it will spare us all a lot of writing.

And this is my problem, I have maybe thousands and ready to reach millions as well of photos, and sure I have something great and arts, but I can't sell one, why? Because I don't know where to sell my photos, there are plenty of websites to sell, and I live in a country where I can't sell photos, only if I work in a true studio then I can sell photos, so I will be the happiest person to find online markets or places to sell my photos.
