Hi Jay, On my MAC I use the Adobe Photo downloader and use it to select the destination folder. I rename the files when I download which will number them as well. Easy Peasy... When I used PC, I often used IrfanView (free software) to batch rename/resize and it too allows you to select the folder, name & numbering options. I have also used the Windows default photo downloader (dont remember the name) and it also allowed me to select the destination folder, name & numbering sequence as I downloaded my photos. I dont worry too much about date/time because all that info is in the EXIF data anyway. I create a new folder by event and name my photos as such (High Sierra Music Fest 2007) would be HSMF07_001.jpg My friend names all his photos with the date but my brain doesn't work that way. I can remember the event I took a photo at but trying to remember the date would have me saerching through several folders in that time frame until I found it. Good Luck, Carlton

"what I need is something that will put the file# on it" What do you mean "on", Jay? Do you want the file # visible in the image when you print it or display it on-screen? Or do you want the file # inserted in the EXIF data? If the first you may need to create a batch 'action' in Photoshop. If the second you will need an EXIF editor. Have fun!

BTW, GraphicConverter's on-screen slide show function displays the file name (or number) IN the image (but they are NOT part of the image). http://www.lemkesoft.com (MacOSX only)

Thanks for replys what I need is to have the file # on the print itself, that way the new publisher I am trying to deal with can match them easier to the Raw #s on the disk accompaning the print. Sorry I guess I wasnt specific enough

Well, Jay, like I said: you'll probably need to create a batch 'action' in Photoshop. But you can't be serious about handing over your RAW files. To ANYONE! Third parties (like publishers, magazines, and other print media) that need hi-res files get TIFFs.

Hello Jay, I use Photoshop myself but Elements and many other software that have a type tool will work. You will have to type these by hand with the type tool. You can also add your "© Jay photofile#001" or whatever you wish. The © is done by holding the "alt" key while typing "0169" or with a MAC it is "Option G" . Let me know if you need help with layers/type tool in Photoshop. I dont know if the Canon or Nikon software will also do this but you should see if it does if you dont want to buy Photoshop. Elements is inexpensive and I know it will do this task as well. If you have several prints to label, you may be able to create an "action" in photoshop to do this faster. Hope this helps - carlton
