Photography Question

Copywrite

I have some photos that I want to put on a website but I don't want people to be able to get on, copy, and paste my photos somewhere else for their own personal use. Is there some way that I can lock my pictures so that they can't be copied?

WS's answer is pretty good. This has been discussed time and again here. The fact is, if you can see it on screen, someone can take a screen capture. Depending on how the image is protected on servers, you can download them directly or indirectly. If you want to show your images, there is always some risk.

You may want to apply a copyright notice so that people know the images are not public domain. See: Making a copyright symbol

You might also want to look at other discusions: Protecting images on a CD

Or learn more about the law: Copyright law

Watermarking is another option, again not completely safe, but in some instances rendering enough deterrent that people won't bother.

One of the best things to do is just keep your uploaded images small so there is no way to get a decent print from them.

OK?

WHAT YOU CAN SEE ON-SCREEN CAN BE COPIED.
