How to shrink wrap loose prints? I've been invited to be featured artist at local gallery in January (SO excited!) and have permission to place matted/backed, loose prints in bin for sale in addition to my framed pieces. We are setting up a frame shop with very limited resources, but would prefer to shrink wrap these prints rather than to use the more bulky, cellophane wrap method. Would appreciate hearing from others with experience with this as to what type of place (craft store/wholesale frame supply, etc.) to buy materials/tools/machine, etc? Thanks in advance for any tips you're willing to share. Cris

Shink wrap might be fine for some products but I would not recommend this for selling your matted or loose prints. There are a number of practical and professional reasons, the primary being the presentation. It's just not going to look very nice compared to putting them into quality poly sleeves. http://www.redimat.com/products/supplies_poly_bags.html Shrink wrap tend to shrink too much and bend the prints or be way too loose. At the very lease, it looks cheep and un-professional when doing it right is easy and not expensive.

I would also recommend using poly bags. I just received my first order about a week ago, along with cut mats and backing. The prices were reasonable and the quality is good. Check out www.clearbags.com What I've found is that when considering your time as a cost, if you order quantities of these items it actually cuts your production costs down. Do you want to spend your time shooting and photoshopping or spend it cutting mats and backing? the image is what makes the $. Matting and backing only add a little value. Jeff

Thanks very much to you both, Ed and Jeff... Since I didn't have time or $$ to spend on the shrink wrap materials and equipment, I elected to order cello bags that fit perfectly - snug but not tight or loose with little flap with adhesive strip - look very professional. Good value as well. Appreciate again! Cris
