How much do I need to charge? I have been ask by an Insurance Agent to make some portraits of him for use on a billboard. He wants to view the proofs and choose one. I have to put the raw on a DVD and sign a Copyright Release. How much do I charge?

Before you consider an actual number, work out the details of billboard only, billboard for right now and other ads later, brochures, business cards....

And when he asks for a price break, ask him how much he charges for insurance and what kind of price break YOU get. Check out the somewhat outdated fee survey at Advertising Photographers of America. http://www.apanational.com/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3290 Add about 20% to what you see there to get into the ballpark of realistic fees and don't scrimp. If you run with the big dogs, you gotta get off the porch. ;>)
